Retaining Rings (Circlips, Snap Rings, E-Rings) for Shaft and Bore Retention
Retaining Rings
Axial retention rings for shaft or bore applications — prevent axial movement of bearings, gears, pulleys, or other components mounted on a shaft or seated in a housing bore, without the need for threaded retention hardware.
Way Fast has established supply partnership for the full range of retaining rings — internal, external, E-ring, C-ring, bowed, inverted, and specialty configurations per JIS, ANSI, or DIN standards. Inquiries welcome across automotive transmission, differential, steering, industrial gearbox, pump, motor, and machine tool assemblies.
Why source through Way Fast
We serve Tier 1 and Tier 2 automotive suppliers — primarily to North American OEM programs, including platforms shared with European and Japanese brands — with day-to-day experience handling the documentation and tolerance standards these projects demand.
01 · Multi-source capacity
Working with multiple qualified manufacturing partners — we match each order to the best-fit production line, stabilizing lead times and cost when single-source capacity tightens.
02 · Submission-grade documentation
Full support for PPAP (Levels 1–3), IMDS submission, and RoHS / REACH documentation.
03 · Audited special-process chain
Partners certified to AIAG CQI-9 (heat treat), CQI-11 (plating), and CQI-12 (coating) — covering the full post-processing chain under audited special-process controls.
04 · Multilingual drawing review
Technical drawing review in English, German, Japanese, and Chinese — including ISO 8015 GPS callouts, JIS standards, thread tolerance classes, and coating specifications.
05 · Ring configuration and groove matching
Ring type (internal / external / axial / inverted), groove geometry tolerance, and material (carbon spring steel for baseline, stainless for corrosion environments) matched per customer drawing — drawing-reviewed against groove specification (width, depth, fillet radius) and installation clearance. Supply partnership in place for programmes requiring DIN / ANSI / JIS catalog rings or custom geometry per drawing.

Selecting across retaining ring configurations
Radial — Internal & External
Basic circlip · DIN 471 / DIN 472
Basic circlip-style rings installed radially into a shaft groove (external) or bore groove (internal). DIN 471 / DIN 472 standard geometry. Primary retention for bearing seats, gear sets, and precision assembly components.
Axial — E-Ring / Bowed E / C-Ring
Side-install · DIN 6799
Axial-installation rings — E-rings (DIN 6799) snap onto a shaft groove from the side; bowed E-rings provide axial preload to take up stack-up clearance; C-rings for larger shafts where radial installation clearance is limited.
Specialty — Inverted & Kilp Rings
Reversed snap · proprietary geometry
Inverted internal / external rings (reversed snap direction) and proprietary Kilp / constant-section ring designs for applications where the basic circlip groove geometry cannot be used. Supplied per specific drawing.
